This week we will not be talking about stonks or GameStop or Wall Street or etc. etc. etc. because this is a safe place for bimbos who know nothing about finance ❤️ (but solidarity to the everyday folks squeezing hedge fund managers, whatever that means!). Instead, Daysia misremembers who Halsey is dating and Hannah rides for Nick Miller (as she should!). Plus all the great pop culture reads as usual and a round-up of hot actors to look at 💖💖💖. Happy Friday, indeed!

What’s taking up our brain space this week?

Hannah: Every few months it seems like people need to be reminded what a gem of a show New Girl was, especially due to its lovable and realistically flawed characters. But there’s one character that always seems to polarize: Nick Miller—an oxymoron of both caring/generous/everything you want in a partner and, well, moron. This week’s discussion on the Twitter timeline was around how unbelievable it was that Nick Miller (portrayed incredibly by Jake Johnson) managed to date women who were seemingly way out of his league (like actually Megan Fox). To this, I say: shame on you! Yes, Nick is simultaneously a grumpy old man and a child but he also looks out for and takes care of the people he loves. He’s unapologetically himself and has no time for anyone’s bullshit. There’s no question that I stan Nick Miller!

I think it’s easy to dismiss him as a caricature of a very specific type of man (i.e. one that needs to be taken care of), but if you watch the show you will see that is absolutely not the case. I’m happy to have this discussion every few months, reminding anyone who will listen that Nick Miller is the best and also to watch New Girl because it’s so special and charming. Everything seems extra hard right now but it’s nice to imagine that I can stroll into the bar and have Nick Miller fix me a drink and dole out some tough love when I rewatch my favorite episodes of New Girl.

Daysia: I was shook when Halsey announced that she was pregnant because I thought she was dating Cara Delevigne??? I was mistaken, however, because apparently she has been with her baby daddy Alev Aydin since at least last summer when they got matching tattoos in Joshua Tree together! Lots of surprises all around, but we’re very happy for Ashley who has been open about having several miscarriages in the past. Here’s for a healthy delivery (and we’re dying to know what the name will be!!!).

Elsewhere on the internet, Lindsay Lohan gave some sweet encouragement to a fan who was trying to come out to her parents. Alana, known on TikTok as @shhlana, asked LiLo to come out for her via Cameo, but Lohan suggested that Alana should tell them directly because it was important for her to do it herself: "I think that coming from you, you'll feel a lot of power and strength and it's important that you are who you truly are and that you love yourself and that you can live by that and tell your parents that. I promise you they will understand," she said. It is the sweetest thing I’ve seen all week, but sadly the video is off the internet! At the request of Miss Lohan, it appears that Alana privated the video. But! The important thing is that Alana did come out to her parents herself and they were supportive of her. The not at all important part? Lindsay’s ever-changing European (?) accent is nowhere to be heard in the video. All for the better, of course, because that totally would have undermined the heartwarming message.

Lastly, I am an embarrassing simp for Nicholas Braun. Everything about him absolutely does it for me. He did a half-assed lil dancy dance to his (super cringey!) quarantine song “Antibodies” on TikTok yesterday and, unfortunately, it was an erotic experience. Listen… the man’s hands in this video 😭… Don’t text. I would let those hands [redacted]. Someone please get me on Raya so I can have a chance with those hands. (If you are my future employer, you did not see this paragraph.)
