Are we gonna get slutty Dylan O'Brien this summer?

Happy Friday!

In this week's issue, Daysia makes the case for a slutty summer (and a future rom-com) with help from Dylan O'Brien and Susan Sarandon. Meanwhile, Hannah is back and can't stop talking about this week's exciting news as both a Lady Gaga and Top Gun fan (spoiler: it's a new Gaga track!).

Happy reading,

<3

This Week's Fixations

Daysia: It’s gonna be a slutty summer! Dylan O’Brien and Susan Sarandon have declared it, so it must be true.

(Why am I getting flashbacks to scrolling through Tumblr in 2012 and seeing ✨spicy ✨ gifs from his movie with his ex Britt Robertson, The First Time???)

Upon seeing these tweets, I also saw the trailer for Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, an Emma Thompson film about a retired widow who hires a sex worker to help her discover pleasure and her first orgasm. The movie seems very warm and humorous, and I’m dying to see it!

I am all for more movies that depict the sex lives of older women. As Susan Sarandon said in response to one person asking why she wasn’t put in more slutty roles in the past: “There’s still plenty of time.” Indeed there is, so… Sarandon and O’Brien sexy rom-com next?

Hannah: First a big thank you to Daysia for holding down the fort last week since I now travel for work (exciting but exhausting!). I'm actually in transit today and looking forward to being in my own bed.

Fear not, I have been still sending Daysia all the weird and wacky pop culture tidbits I come across on Twitter, some of which you can find in TMT Plus.

However, the most exciting news for me this week I discovered on Instagram. We're getting a new Lady Gaga track (!!) which is going to be featured in Top Gun: Maverick!!!

Longtime readers will understand why this is a highlight for me as both a Little Monster and someone who has anxiously been waiting for the sequel to a movie that came out in 1986 (and really just wants to see Manny Jacinto in a flight suit). I don't know how much overlap there is between Lady Gaga and Top Gun fans, but if I was a Venn diagram I would be a circle.

I'm so ready for this.

Also, we are now less than a month away from Top Gun: Maverick finally being out May 27!) so I think it will be time for a re-watch of Top Gun soon.

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

Lorde in Prada 💖

She also addressed the shushing controversy lol.

ICYMI: This live performance of Miley Cyrus and Anitta performing “Mothers Daughter” and “Boys Don’t Cry” has me gagged!

Too Many Tabs

Vulture’s Chris Lee documented the chaotic production environment for Iron Man 2.

Laverne Cox, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez, and Eva Reign are them cover stars. They discussed increased opportunities for trans actors in Hollywood, being “arbiters of empathy,” and bridging the gap between media representation and reality amid growing anti-trans legislative attacks.

For GQ, writer Laia Garcia-Furtado interviewed Rosalía about how she, along with her peers, created an innovative, uncompromising sound built for the global nightclub.

Plus… James Corden is exiting the Late Late Show with a bang (is that a threat?), Olivia Rodrigo returns to her roots, another stacked cast?, Kim K is a Bowen Yang fan, Lil Nas X is going on tour, inside Netflix’s power struggles, an extremely chaotic release date, Andrew Garfield is taking a break to rest, MGK and Megan Fox really do drink each other’s blood ):, Lea Michele is relishing Beanie Feldstein’s reviews, Michele also let Jonathan Groff explore the “Word of Your Body,” Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin aren’t finished, and how Doja Cat put her Coachella set together.
