What did Julia Fox and Kanye West do at Carbone?
Obviously, we had to talk about Julia Fox and Kanye West and their... date? Daysia breaks down what's what with the most surprising couple of 2022 (so far).
Meanwhile, Hannah is looking forward to some great TV shows and finally getting to see Manny Jacinto in a flight suit (in theaters, fingers crossed) among other blockbusters.
Happy weekend!

This Week's Fixations
Daysia: Julia Fox has had an eventful month. I don't know much about her, but I know this much is true: she's iconic.
In late December, Fox aired out her "deadbeat" baby daddy on her Instagram Stories, leaving Twitter in shambles. She called him out for neglecting their son, abusing her and women, and... fucking his aunt? 🥴
As serious as the allegations are, I find it kind of incredible that she filmed some of these very serious videos using an Instagram beauty filter. Jokes aside, I love when women call out shitty men and warn other women about them! Get his ass!

Obviously, Kanye is no saint, but I love that Fox rebounded from a very tumultuous relationship with whatever this is. I'm not sure if it's an actual date (Ye has said he's "dating around" after Kim Kardashian officially filed to change her marital status to single) or an act (as we know, Ms. Fox is an actress and the Kimye divorce operation is getting messy!).
In any case, after the Interview "piece", it became clear that the date was a calculated response to Kardashian and Pete Davidson. People have brought up that Davidson and Fox know each other and previously did a photoshoot together for Paper. But this Interview piece is almost maddeningly meta—Kanye hired a photographer and directed a professional photoshoot for this date, possibly referencing the fact that people were going to think the date was staged. And Fox's account of the date reads as tight, polite, and surface-level as a Yelp review. If this is a real, budding romance (probably not), this piece did not convince anyone.
I don't fully understand this game of unhinged chess Kimye are playing in the media, but I must say it is entertaining. The divorce drama gets weirder by the day, but whatever's going on, I'll be rooting for Fox.
Hannah: A new year is here and that means new TV seasons and shows and movies (or in the case of movies, them finally being released after being pushed back several times). I will say in 2021 that I really was behind in terms of TV—I'm still working my way through season three of Succession (no spoilers, please!) and Dickinson. The only thing I consistently watched was the Marvel shows on Disney+. I fared a little better with movies as I basically saw everything that was good (in my opinion) in cinemas. However, there are still some gems that I need to watch, like Encanto and Luca.
Once I catch up with 2021 releases, here's what I'm looking forward to this year in TV and movies.
TV
The Righteous Gemstones (season 2 premieres January 9 on HBO): I wrote about my love for this show last year and it really is hard to summarize what it's like. Think all the insanity of Riverdale (kind of) with the writing and acting chops of Succession plus musical moments.
Pam & Tommy (premieres February 2 on Hulu): I'm just going to let the trailer speak for itself. However, I'm calling it now that Lily James is going to get a Golden Globe/Emmy nom.
Bridgerton (season 2 premieres March 25 on Netflix): I'm ready to return to the ton and immerse myself in this Regency Era Gossip Girl where everything is such low stakes but treated as the end of the world. Plus hopefully some more incredible costumes (unlike some other Netflix shows...).
Here are 45 other TV shows that are coming out this year courtesy of Vulture.
Movies
The Batman (March 4): I have no shame in saying that this will be the first Batman movie I'm remotely interested in and, yes, it's because Robert Pattinson is in it. Edward Cullen walked so Pattison's broody Bruce Wayne/Batman could run.
Top Gun: Maverick (May? November??): After many delays, this is the year we finally get to see Manny Jacinto in a flight suit, praise be! Also, there is a lot one can say about Tom Cruise but the man knows how to make an action movie. I'm just going to be listening to "Take My Breath Away" on repeat until I can see this movie.
Thor: Love and Thunder (July 8): Thor in the hands of Taika Waititi is one of the best things to happen to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I absolutely cannot wait to see is in store for this loveable himbo of a god.
Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?
No Lorde news this week. But we checked the Solar Institute website where Lorde posts some personal photos and demos for the folks who bought the Solar Power music box. She's dropped some cool things since the last time we checked, including this pic from her birthday when she took herself out for lunch. Fab!
ICYMI: The Weeknd's new album Dawn FM is out now.
