Did Phoebe Dynevor run into Kim and Pete at the Met Gala?

What a traumatizing week! We hope everyone is taking care amid the recent SCOTUS news, and if you are so inclined, please donate to an abortion fund.

This week, Daysia recaps the celebrity exes at the Met Gala while Hannah is excited about the adaptation of one of her favorite Sarah Dessen novels.

Have a great weekend! <3

This Week's Fixations

Daysia: Upon watching the Met Gala red carpet coverage, I was particularly struck by Phoebe Dynevor's presence. I don't know why, I just know that I really liked her look (although it wasn't the best). I think she just looked a lot more intriguing than what I imagine her to be (which is, typically, as the plain, beautiful Daphne Bridgerton). But aside from her outfit, another thought struck me as I saw Phoebe Dynevor: Is it awkward for her to see her ex Pete Davidson with one of the most famous women in the world?

That thought made me realize that there were quite a few notorious exes on the Met stairs on Monday night, including long-time lovers Austin Butler and Vanessa Hudgens (in case you forgot, they were together for NINE years). Austin and Vanessa are one of the breakups that broke me, and despite the fact that they both have new partners, I couldn't help but wonder what couple outfit they could've pulled at the Met Gala. Lest we forget, they were the king and queen of Halloween for years!

I was, apparently, not the only one fixated by the amount of exes on the red carpet. Teen Vogue did a whole round-up of the entanglements, including an apparent mingling of Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter. For the attendee dynamics alone, I think this was one of the more interesting Met Galas.

Hannah: Okay other than the Met Gala which was as usual a mixed bag in terms of attendees sticking to the theme (or not)—I have discovered that one of my favorite books by Sarah Desson has been adapted and is now streaming on Netflix!

I really don't know how I managed to miss this but I guess it's just because there is so much content I'm bound to miss some things. Anyways the nostalgia is real and since the screenwriter for Along for the Ride also did To All the Boys I Loved Before (Sofia Alvarez) I have high hopes that this will be a great adaptation.

I'm a huge fan of the Sarah Dessen literary universe and Along for the Ride is a favorite re-read. Like who wouldn't want to go on late night adventures with a mysterious biker boy in a charming little beach town??

If you're looking for a light-hearted, low angst read or watch, especially in light of all the news this week, then Along for the Ride is perfect.

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

She did not attend the Met Gala on Monday, presumably because her tour is on the West Coast at the moment. But remember her look from last year?

ICYMI: Ava Max released a glimmery dance pop track, "Maybe You're the Problem."

Too Many Tabs

Elite Daily's Sydney N. Sweeney interviewed Suki Waterhouse about her new album, her role in the Daisy Jones and the Six adaptation, and her obscured public image.

Elisabeth Moss spoke to the New Yorker's Michael Schulman about Handmaid's Tale, playing darker characters on TV, and her faith in Scientology (😬).

Bling Empire's Anna Shay is truly iconic in this profile by Helena de Bertodano for the Times, which begins with Shay asking the writer to ditch the photoshoot for the piece to go shopping with her.

Plus... Olivia Rodrigo speaks out for abortion rights, two Rock and Roll Hall of Fame voters talk about the 2022 ballot, how Hot Ones became an outlet for vulnerability for celebs, a scene stealing writer at Grey's Anatomy in two parts, representation for Daly City Filipinos (Daysia), and television's showrunning crisis.
