Are the pop boys spiraling on TikTok?
This week, Daysia obsesses over some of the main pop boys' chaotic TikTok edits. Meanwhile Hannah has another round-up of the news and headlines that made her go “absolutely not,” “oh!” “okay then,” and “yes!!”

This Week's Fixations
Daysia: The pop boys are making chaos edits on TikTok! Nick Jonas just posted a tour video, simply showing Ants on a Log, and it’s incredible. (Aside: glad the Jonas Brothers still enjoy produce and nut butter based snacks.) No editing in sight, just vibes. The man made Joe explain the snack THREE times and left in every single take. Then, he cut to Kevin, then Joe, then a dog sitting in absolute silence.
Shawn Mendes also made a bizarre video of himself awhile back asking his followers to sing with him. Same kind of awkward cuts, and other pop boys joined in. This video, I’ll admit, is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen Mendes do. If this is the hot new marketing strategy for his music, perhaps I’d be more inclined to listen.
Finally, Troye Sivan has returned to his online roots by posting TikToks like mad lately (really, someone take this app away from him). After Lil Nas X (it goes without saying he’s the king of this sort of content), Sivan is the best chaotic pop boy on the app.
It appears all of these men have learned how to keep our attention in an increasingly oversaturated market: post bizarro, nonsensical TikToks. Speaking of, what is this Nick Jonas? Are you trolling or are you promoting a new Taylor Swift collab? I need answers!
Hannah: Time for another round of “absolutely not,” “oh!” “okay then,” and “yes!!” Here are this week’s finds:
Absolutely not:
I don’t think there’s a clear-cut answer about separating the art from the artist but I think these R. Kelly fans who came out in support of the rapper during his trial need to get a grip! “Ignition (Remix)” isn’t that great.
Oh!:
According to Nick Cannon his therapist has told him to “be celibate” so it appears that we won’t be getting any more children with interesting names for the foreseeable future. Not to worry, Cannon still isn’t ruling out having more children.
Former Super Bowl Halftime Headliner The Weeknd is now an actor and is going to be starring alongside Lily-Rose Depp in a new HBO series. And the logline leaves a lot to unpack:
Lily Rose-Depp has been cast opposite The Weeknd in HBO’s ‘The Idol,’ @DEADLINE reports.
The series follows a female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic L.A. club owner who is the leader of a secret cult.

Okay then:
Speaking of the Super Bowl Halftime Show, the headliners for next year’s show in LA have been announced and it’s quite the lineup (see tweet below) of people. Mixed feelings but intrigued and in my opinion, they won’t have high expectations to beat if we’re comparing it to this year’s show (sorry, Abel!).
Three Southern California natives — Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar — will headline Super Bowl LVI in Los Angeles alongside Mary J. Blige and Eminem. nyti.ms/3mdnUrX

Yes!!:
Nicholas Braun graced Mr. Porter and the photos are *chef’s kiss*. I just want to be friends with this extremely tall man (6’7”!) Also, the countdown to season three of Succession is officially on—16 days, baby!
Britney is one step closer to being free: on September 30, a judge removed her father, Jamie Spears as her conservator and the next step is for the conservatorship to be removed entirely.
The Cut is one of my favorite magazines and they had this phenomenal cover story and profile of Simone Biles who talks about the Tokyo Olympics.
Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?
Lorde was featured as one of the cover stars for Variety’s “Power of Women” issue and the feature by Mike Wass and Ellise Shafer talked all about the themes on Solar Power and its relationship to her previous work.
On the sonic shift of Solar Power: “In some ways, “Solar Power” challenges the way we, as listeners, have come to conflate misery with credibility. ‘I actually think optimism is super cool,’ she shrugs. ‘I begrudge no one what they want from me, but as someone who’s done both, lightness is way harder to achieve than darkness.’”
.@lorde looks gorgeous gracing the cover of @Variety’s 'Power of Women' issue.🤍

ICYMI: TWICE has released their first full English single, "The Feels."
Too Many Tabs
Disney Channel hero (and antagonist) turned YouTube star Christy Carlson Romano opened up to Chris Murphy about the behind-the scenes behind her viral videos and what she has been doing since her Disney days.
Wesley Lowery profiles Will Smith for GQ and Smith shares more about the new era of his career—he has two films coming out that center around racial themes—and his new memoir: “The idea is I spent the first half of my life gathering, gathering, gathering, and now the second half of my life is going to be giving it all away.”
On the anniversary of The Social Network, Sarah Ramos gives Olivia Singh of Insider the scoop on how she and Dylan O’Brien recreated the “lawyer up asshole” scene for her “quaranscenes” video series.
Angelina Chapin interviewed the singer Sparkle for The Cut about how she feels seeing R. Kelly’s guilty verdict, 20 years after she went public about Kelly sexually abusing her teenage niece.
Plus… Lori Loughlin is coming back to the screen, Aaron Sorkin on Scott Rudin, Lena Dunham is a married woman now (and guess who gave a speech at her wedding!), Archie Andrews is a dad now IRL, a Jake Gyllenhaal profile, and ScarJo and Disney have come to an agreement.
