Is 'Do Revenge' one of the best teen movies in recent memory?

Happy Saturday, readers!

This week Daysia gushes about Do Revenge and Hannah is obsessed with Guy Fieri's tweet about Don't Worry Darling.

There are also some excellent reads in Too Many Tabs to get you through the weekend.

While we focus on pop culture, we know there were some major events in the global news this week.

Here are some ways to support countries impacted by Hurricane Fiona, including Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Turks and Caicos, and Guadeloupe.

And we stand in solidarity with the women of Iran in the wake of the death of Mahsa Amini.

Love and light,

This Week's Fixations

Daysia: This week was ROUGH, but watching Do Revenge was an absolute bright spot. I was a bit nervous because Netflix teen movies can be very hit (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) or miss (Sierra Burgess is a Loser). Do Revenge is an incredible, delicious homage to the genre—my favorite genre. The amount of references to iconic teen films like Heathers, Mean Girls, Clueless, 10 Things I Hate About You, and even Riverdale (with a wink at Cami Mendes’ character in that series) was so delightful. I didn’t even get them all! And the chemistry between Mendes and Maya Hawke is *chef’s kiss.*

Highly recommend adding this film to your weekend watchlist.

Hannah: No big thoughts this week just thinking about the most perfect tweet I have seen in recent memory.

This is a million times better than the other weird promo that it seems the studio paid for—like, Kim Kardashian and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills??

I’m seeing Don’t Worry Darling tonight and I’m only medium worried. I will report back next week with more thoughts and hopefully, that will be the last time I write about this frickin’ movie!

In the meantime, please enjoy the absolutely haunting and off-putting “song” that Florence Pugh and Harry Styles’ characters perform in the movie (I think??):

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

Lorde got advice from Charli XCX about performing in Canada. She also teased NEW MUSIC!!!

ICYMI: Sam Smith and Kim Petras’ sexy new collab, “Unholy,” is here.

Too Many Tabs

Writer Leigh Giangreco explored the hard-hitting question in the Washington Post: can you really do everything in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?

Greyson Chance told Rolling Stone’s Tomás Mier about his experience after his viral debut on The Ellen Show as a tween, getting abandoned by Ellen DeGeneres, his grueling publicity tour under her mentorship, and picking himself back up after everything.

For Romper, Meghan Trainor tells writer Gillian Telling that she’s not ashamed of her side-by-side toilets, the demands of motherhood, her new album Takin’ It Back, and her musical upbringing.

Plus… reminisce on this historic performance from 2008, the Harry Styles-inspired character in The Idea of You has been cast, Selena Gomez’s new mental health documentary is coming soon, Drew Barrymore isn’t impressed with Andrew Garfield, an absolute DREAM casting, exciting news about season 4 of HSMTMTS, and iconic behind-the-scenes footage from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
