Was this season of ‘Selling Sunset’ a hit or miss?

We can’t believe that the end of 2021 is almost here! Have no fear we will be sending out letters for the next two weeks.
Stay safe out there!

This Week's Fixations
Daysia: I finally watched the latest season of Selling Sunset, and honestly, it was kind of boring? I watched all 10 episodes and it was mostly a snooze fest, even on Christine Quinn’s end. The fight between Quinn and Mary Fitzgerald had a little bite to it, but it took 10 episodes to get there. Plus, the new cast additions weren’t super interesting either. They didn’t even get to the buzzy relationship between Chrishell Stause and Jason Oppenheim—it was teased for next season! Not sure if I’m interested in a whole new season with this cast, although I’m curious about the Selling the O.C. spinoff they teased at the end of the final episode. I just started Selling Tampa and I think I’ll enjoy it more. If nothing else, it’s nice to look at some beautiful (and downright hideous) multi-million dollar houses!
Speaking of Quinn, I’ve been asked by my dear friend Olivia to unpack the conspiracy around her pregnancy. So, we’re bringing back a segment that has been dormant for far too long: Unhinged Truther Vibes, our section dedicated to examining celeb rumors and conspiracies. More below!
Hannah: Every time I see a video of Tom Holland and Zendaya during the Spider-Man: No Way Home press tour I literally go 🥺🥺🥺. I honestly feel like they are my favorite recent co-star couple. The obvious love and affection between Holland and Zendaya is so refreshing and I feel like they complement each other so well.
I have been trying to mind my business more when it comes to celebrity relationships (both the judging and the gushing). I’m trying not to get as invested because I’m choosing peace this holiday season (I feel like everyone should try this—don’t get caught up in the drama and the discourse).
So I will leave you with these videos that I DMed to Daysia on Twitter (with the note, “Just collecting my data don’t mind me” 😌).

And, of course, this super sweet Instagram post by Zendaya about Tom being Spider-Man.
Couple goals!

Did Christine Quinn fake her pregnancy?
I withheld any judgment on this topic until watching the latest season of Selling Sunset. I think mothers, especially those in the public eye, often receive a lot of unfair criticism because of our societal expectations of motherhood. As much of a devil as Christine Quinn is, I avoid judging women for what they do after they give birth because everyone rebounds and copes differently postpartum. So, the critique that Quinn is “setting unrealistic expectations” for new moms feels unwarranted.
That being said… after reading the conspiracy and watching the show, I am not quite convinced that she didn’t fake her pregnancy. She has denied the rumors that she used a surrogate, calling them “sick.”
I watched the show thinking that it would help confirm that the rumors were ridiculous, but it didn’t do that. If there’s anything this season of Selling Sunset did, it was drive home the idea that Quinn is a LIAR—but will deny it to the grave. Here is what she has said about her pregnancy:
She arrived at the hospital fully dilated and needed an emergency C-section.
Her and the baby started to flatline.
Viewers had a lot of questions based on some of the timing of her Instagram posts around the time of the birth as well as the footage from this season of the show. The original Reddit post compiling the “evidence” that she faked it has since been deleted. But some of it was preserved here, read to get the gist:
The streets are saying Christine may have faked her pregnancy on this season of #sellingsunset and you know what? I kinda buy it

Giving Quinn the benefit of the doubt regarding the timeline of the show, which she says was shot over 6 months, the edits could be nonsequential. For instance, she says one yoga scene, in which she is balancing on her head, was filmed during her pregnancy but framed to look like it happened after. Buzzfeed News reported that you can’t fully see her stomach in the scene, so it’s hard to verify. The screenshot the outlet used in its story shows Quinn from a rear side angle, and it doesn’t look like she’s super pregnant… but that’s just my opinion.
It also seems like they edited the show to draw attention to her seemingly impossible postpartum body. They left in a ridiculous amount of remarks—in multiple episodes— about how “tiny” Quinn is so soon after her birth. There are also references to lengths of time, like in one scene where Amanza Smith comments on how thin Quinn looks a few days after birth.
Quinn posted a picture from the hospital on her Instagram Story when the rumors began. Her doctor also reposted it to his Story, according to Buzzfeed News. However, I’m even skeptical of that photo, since she’s not wearing a hospital gown in the delivery room right after the birth of her son. I looked through her doctor’s Instagram and other post-birth delivery room photos on his feed show moms in hospital gowns. So… I’m still not totally sold.
This controversy/conspiracy is pretty hairy since it’s kind of distasteful to try to debunk a woman’s pregnancy. But it’s also Christine Quinn we’re talking about here, and she’s seemingly lied about a lot of things, including a possible engagement. So would I put it past her? No. But do I know for sure? No.
