This Week's Fixations

Daysia: Wonderful things happening in entertainment and pop culture this week! Let’s break down my personal highlights:

• Everything Everywhere All At Once: I watched this movie this week, and I don’t even know how to describe the experience. It is such a delightful, absurd, and heart-wrenching film about the possibilities of life, nihilism, optimism, and intergenerational trauma. I laughed. I cried. I left the theater with an overwhelming static lingering in my brain. I felt a sense of peace. To quote my boyfriend, “This is the craziest movie I’ve ever seen.” It deserves 1 million Oscars.

• Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2: Against the odds, Calvin Harris is finally producing a follow-up to his fan-favorite, summer-soaked 2017 album Funk Wav Bounces Vol 1. This is going to be the soundtrack of the summer! People I hope are on the latest iteration: Doja Cat, SZA, Dua Lipa, and Silk Sonic.

• Coachella Weekend 1: So much has been said already, but my personal favorite moments: Harry Styles debuting new songs Boyfriends and Late Night Talking, BROCKHAMPTON springing a trailer for their “final album” after their second-to-last performance ever, the return of Coachella style icon Vanessa Hudgens (who DELIVERED what we all wanted), and the model who was caught kissing Timothée Chalamet. I'm hoping for an interesting second weekend with even better surprise appearances. Specifically, I pray that the rumors that Harry will bring out Niall Horan are true (even though I KNOW they are not). Please!

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

Lorde covered Rosalia’s “HENTAI” at the show Hannah attended on Monday. AND she sang “400 Lux” (shout out to my Pure Heroine stans) at the Philly show.
