Will we get into the Harry's House pop-up?

Happy weekend, readers! We hope you are listening to Harry's House while enjoying your favorite beverage.

In this week's letter, Daysia talks about her attempt to see the Harry's House pop-up in NYC on opening night and Hannah is talking about Top Gun: Maverick... again.

Happy reading,

<3

This Week's Fixations

Daysia: I foolishly attempted to go to the Harry’s House pop-up in New York on Thursday night to celebrate the release of Harry Styles’ third album. I planned on being at the pop-up when the album dropped at midnight, as the shop was going to open from midnight to 2 a.m. (Like the delusional stan I am, I thought that there would be a chance to see Harry, since he was in NYC for the “One Night Only” show for the album, and what better way to celebrate Harry’s House than joining your fans the moment the album drops?)

I got to the pop-up around 10 p.m. Immediately, I knew it was over for me! The line wrapped around the building and down the block, with another line of equal length running parallel across the street. There was no way all of those people were going to get in and out of the pop-up by 2 a.m. I knew my boyfriend and I, along with other Harries who arrived around the same time, were not going to get in last night. Why did I believe we would? I don’t know girlies, I was on my clown shit 🤡 For the record, the first people in line said they’d gotten there at 6:30 a.m., 8:30 a.m., and 10 a.m. That last person had already been there a full 12 hours before we got there. We were done for!

I still plan on going back to the pop-up (which ends next Thursday, May 26), even if I have to get there hours earlier. Although, today's (Saturday) line was quite... disheartening as well. Take this as a warning people! This is what happens when you stan someone! The 12-year-old Directioner me made a lifelong decision for us, so we’re gonna follow that man to the end—even if it means lots of money and time spent. The price of being a fangirl!

Anyways, stream Harry’s House, especially “Late Night Talking,” “Cinema,” and “Keep Driving.”

Hannah: Oh Days... keeping you in my thoughts during this difficult time.

Here's my own experience with long lines in NYC that I shared with Daysia:

Anyways, I really don't have anything new that I'm fixated on other than viciously counting down the days until Top Gun: Maverick is out (6 days!!). I feel like everyone is probably sick of me talking about it but I'm going to talk about it anyways.

  • The movie premiered at Cannes where Tom Cruise got an honorary Palme d'Or and fighter jets flew over the red carpet! It also received a five-minute standing ovation, which is a baby amount compared to some other films, but still, it's Top Gun at Cannes! (via Variety)

  • Top Gun: Maverick currently has 96% on Rotten Tomatoes! I take Rotten Tomatoes scores with a grain of salt and also because I notoriously like pretty much everything (I'm very easily entertained). But my expectations are insanely high for this movie and feel like they actually might be met.

  • Tom Cruise also escorted the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, down the red carpet at the film's UK premiere. I showed my mom the photo and she said, "I thought you weren't supposed to touch royalty like that." I guess the rules don't apply to Tom Cruise! I mean apparently, Cruise and Prince William have a lot in common, according to Cruise: "We both love England, and we're both aviators, we both love flying." (via Sky News)

  • And finally, I can't stop thinking about how the actors learned to fly the planes! They really committed to the bit.

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

The North American leg of the Solar Power tour has ended. She’s now onto the U.K. and Europe!

ICYMI: You already know… Harry’s House is out now. But, Rina Sawayama also dropped a new iconic single, “This Hell.”
