Who will Leonardo DiCaprio babysit next?

Happy Labor Day weekend!

There was a lot of dark and serious news that came out this week. From a Nickelodeon exposé to some new allegations against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears, we’re linking a few big stories in Too Many Tabs. For our individual fixes, we’re keeping it light, since there were plenty of other bonkers headlines over the past few days.

Happy reading and take care,

This Week's Fixations

Daysia: There were so many weird trending stories that occurred over the past week that I can’t choose just one. So, here’s a few items that made me laugh, scream, and overall think “????”

Clueless’s Stacey Dash just found out that DMX died.

If you’ll recall, rapper DMX’s death was huge news last April. I don’t know how anyone could have missed it, especially if they’re a fan. Dash saw a TikTok with a DMX song she said saved her and was surprised to see #RIP. She posted a video mourning DMX after she found out he died earlier this week. I know she felt emotional because DMX died of a cocaine overdose, and she has struggled with addiction. But it’s still… a bizarre thing to admit and post about. Again, how could you miss such a prominent death? I’m so perplexed by this.

They’re rebooting Life with Derek.

Kind of. It’s a spin-off movie, and I guess the idea has been in the works for two years. It’s the same concept but with Derek and Casey’s respective teenaged children. Polar opposite teens learn to tolerate each other. OK!

If you’ve seen Life with Derek, you’re familiar with the weird romantic tension between the main characters, Derek and Casey, who are step-siblings. This is the last teen sitcom I thought they’d reboot, since most people seemed to agree that the chemistry was strange for a show about two teens learning how to be family. But I suppose it was popular enough in Canada that the demand was there? In any case, I loved the behind-the-scenes photos.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Camila Morrone have officially split:

Just when I thought Morrone would be the first girlfriend to clear the 25-year-old threshold, I was proven wrong. Another fallen soldier🫡

I don’t know why I’m surprised, but I thought maybe DiCaprio would try to beat his own meme to make a point. I guess the man is really committed to this 25-and-under requirement for girlfriends, which means I only have a year and a half until Leo kicks me to the curb!

Hannah: The Venice Film Festival is happening right now. Luckily for us (mostly me), Timothée Chalamet is starring in a movie that is premiering there, which means he’s back on social media, and even better, back on the red carpet. There have been two outfits that I have seen him wearing in Venice for promo of Bones and All and they have sparked opposite emotions in me.

The first involves camo cargo shorts and a cardigan, which makes me question everything. I’m not sure there is a person in the world that could wear this and I think it looks good—except maybe Zendaya who is pretty much the exception to every rule.

(But also let’s take a moment to acknowledge how he is looking at Taylor Russell, it almost makes up for this outfit.)

The second is a red jumpsuit, but not just any jumpsuit, it was backless. I’m sure you have all seen it by now including the memes—most notably the ones (aptly) comparing him to Mr. Tumnus. This definitely makes up for the camo cargo shorts.

Thank you Timmy for always giving us something to talk about.

Has Lorde Dropped a New Album?

Lorde swam in the Potomac River, and it was a whole thing. The crowd at her DC show booed! She’s so brave for admitting this, honestly.

ICYMI: Gorillaz dropped a groovy collab with Tame Impala and Bootie Brown, "New Gold."

Too Many Tabs

Insider’s Kate Taylor spoke to writers, actors, and crew members who worked with Dan Schneider at Nickelodeon and described his inappropriate relationships with teen actors and on-set bullying.

The Daily Beast’s Laura Bradley reported on a new lawsuit accusing Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of child sexual abuse.

Meghan Markle is silent no more—Allison P. Davis spoke to Markle about her new podcast, life in Montecito, and the past few years for the cut.

Jeremy Strong is in Telluride for Armageddon Time where he sat down with Vanity Fair’s David Canfield to talk about the process and also how he felt about that New Yorker Profile.

Plus… Lea Michele addresses the rumors she can’t read (kind of), House of Hammer is out now, a new Lindsay Lohan movie is coming, no one wants to see DaBaby in concert, Sheryl Lee Ralph is finally getting her flowers, and a John Legend profile.
